Careers Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to be Catholic to work at Catholic Charities?

No. Catholic Charities welcomes and serves people of all faiths. Catholic Charities recognizes the value of all perspectives by providing equal opportunities to all individuals regardless of religion, race, gender, age, national origin, socio-economic status, veteran status or disability, at all levels within our organization.

Do you offer benefits to part-time employees?

Yes. If the position requires at least twenty (20) hours per week, part-time employees are eligible for benefits on a pro-rated basis. Click here to view our benefits summary.

Any benefits exclusions under the current health plans?

We are under the Diocesan self-insured health plans. Under these plans and as allowed by law, benefits and coverages that are not aligned with the teachings of the Catholic Church are excluded, such as abortion services and coverage for same-sex spouse. To discuss coverage limitations, feel free to contact Benefits Manager in the Human Resources office. The following services or procedures are not covered under the current health plans: elective abortions, sterilization procedures (male or female), alternate means of impregnation (in vivo and in vitro fertilization, as well as any other non-Church approved methods), contraceptive devices and birth control pills or other similar or equivalent services.
Dependent’s health coverage (medical, dental, vision, etc.) for children ends on December 31st of the child’s 26th birthday year.

Do you require pre-employment background checks and/ or drug screens ?

We do require criminal background check and verification of education / credentials for all our positions. Many of our positions are direct care positions that require our employees to work closely with vulnerable populations. So, depending on the requirements of the job and the program of Catholic Charities you will be working in, you may be required to take a pre-employment drug screen, be fingerprinted, and/or have a complete physical.
