We continue to direct those who wish to respond to the needs of survivors of Hurricane Harvey and Irma to donate online to our national organization, Catholic Charities USA at catholiccharitiesusa.org. Catholic Charities USA is coordinating relief response and we receive regular updates through their disaster operations staff. As we learn more about the needs of those affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico and Florida, we will share updates on relief efforts.

Coordinated Diocesan work includes partnering with the emergency committee at St. Clement’s Church in Matawan, New Jersey to collect and store cleaning supplies and hygiene kits in their gym. These items may be dropped off at St. Clements at 172 Freneau Avenue, Matawan between 10 am and 1pm on Saturday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 30th.

We have also been partnering with St. Vincent DePaul USA and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Management. That office has already collected nearly 1000 clean-up kits to be delivered to St. Clements on or before October 12th.

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton continues to collaborate with our partners at New Jersey Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NJVOAD) and they are providing us with situation reports on how our partners across the state and nationally are assisting in relief efforts.

Additionally, we are partnering with the Disaster and Terrorism Branch, New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) as a participant in the Crisis Counseling Program. We have current and former employees who are certified Disaster Response Crisis Counselors (DRCC) who can be called into volunteer service for disaster related needs in New Jersey and nationally.

Please continue to keep all who have been impacted by these recent events in your prayers.
