RobertTanzola_webCatholic Charities Diocese of Trenton has named a new Chair of its Board of Trustees, to replace the outgoing Chair, Sen. Peter Inverso. Robert Tanzola takes over helping to lead the organization that is well into its second century of providing help and hope to more than 100,000 residents each year in Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

“Bob Tanzola has served with great distinction by sharing his expertise as a member of the finance committee and as Vice-Chair,” said Executive Director Marlene Laó-Collins. “His commitment to our mission is also reflected in his effort to support our programs through his many visits to sites and volunteering at El Centro.”

Tanzola began volunteering his time at Catholic Charities in 2006 as a member of the board’s Finance Committee, later serving as its Chair. He recently completed a term as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees. Both Tanzola and his wife Karen dedicate considerable time as tutors and ESL teachers at Catholic Charities’ El Centro program in Trenton. “Bob and Karen are so kind and genuine with everyone at El Centro, particularly the children,” observed Roberto Hernandez, El Centro’s Director.

Married for more than 50 years, the Tanzolas reside in Spring Lake where they are active parishioners at St. Catharine Church. They have three sons and six grandchildren.
