Meet Our PACT Teams
Behavioral Health Services
They are compassionate, courageous and available around the clock for individuals challenged with severe and persistent mental illness… meet our PACT teams!
Catholic Charities Program of Assertive Community Treatment or PACT consists of four interdisciplinary teams of outreach workers serving the persistently mentally ill in Mercer and Burlington Counties. Each PACT team provides direct services to consumers in the community who have required hospitalization in the state system and who are at risk of returning to an institutional setting. Treatment provided includes psychiatric medical intervention, nursing, counseling, vocational, dual disorder and case management services.
The recent tragic deaths of John Forbes Nash Jr., the Princeton University mathematician and his wife Alicia provide an example of the important work our Programs of Assertive Community Treatment provide to individuals with serious mental illness in our community. The Mercer County PACT team headed by Melissa Vickers has been recognized by the Nash family for providing ongoing support to the Nash’s son; a recipient of services for the past seven years.
The Nash’s were known internationally for their support of the mentally ill. With their passing, attention was focused on the psychiatric services that go well beyond medication and basic needs to combat the many challenges that mental illness presents. The efficacy of the social support provided by our PACT teams is demonstrated by the team’s involvement in the most profound events of their client’s lives, even including sad milestones such as funerals.
